Assemblies & Athletics

The activities and athletic program is an integral part of a comprehensive high school and an extension of the classroom. We encourage students to help design, develop and participate in at least one activity in an interest area.

Assemblies

Students are required to attend assemblies. Assemblies will generally feature Volcano Vista performing groups and/or teams. Teachers will accompany students to the gym. Students must leave backpacks and belongings in the class prior to being dismissed for the assembly for security reasons. All classrooms are locked during this time.  Students are not allowed to enter assemblies late or leave early. They are expected to act with courtesy and respect at assemblies.

Athletics

Volcano Vista offers a complete program of interscholastic sports for boys and girls. Students are urged to participate in a wide variety of athletic programs. Before any student participates in any athletic program, he/she must have a physical examination. Physical forms are available from the athletic trainer, coaches and at the www.aps.edu web site under sports. A student may also ask his/her own physician to complete the APS examination form. A physical form must be on file with the Athletic Trainer in order for a student to participate on any Volcano Vista athletic team.
