Preseason Opportunities
In case you haven't heard, there is new Cardio Room at VVHS complete with rollers, stationary bikes, free weights, etc. -- everything you need for sports-specific conditioning. Thanks to Coach Francour, our girls' tennis team is going to be utilizing this facility twice a week this fall.
With two days of conditioning and two practice days (hitting tennis balls at Sierra Vista) per week, we will get a jump-start on the season and hit the ground running come spring. Basically, hitting sessions will be Mondays and Wednesday, 3:30-5:00pm, at Sierra Vista; conditioning sessions will be Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4:00-5:00pm, at the VVHS Cardio Room (located inside the athletic complex building next to our tennis courts).
Required Paperwork
Please get your 2019-2020 physical completed ASAP. All players must have a current APS Sports Physical and Concussion Course Certificate on file with the VVHS Athletic Trainer BEFORE trying out or participating in any way. Coach Kappus will be contacted by the Athletic Trainer when your paperwork is in and you are eligible to participate.
Preseason Hitting
Players interested in preparing for the upcoming season are encouraged to participate in pre-season hitting days; these sessions are voluntary/informal practices that can help you sharpen your skills and get ready for Spring tryouts. The preseason schedule is listed below. While optional, whatever work you put in during the fall is bound to pay dividends in the spring.
Preseason Practices
Preseason practices will be on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at Ventana Ranch Courts from 4:00-5:30pm.
Participation Requirements
Physical Forms
Every student/athlete who comes to a try out for your team must have a completed physical. A competed physical includes all parent signatures, doctor signatures, emergency contact, insurance page filled out and a signed concussion form. Athletes must turn in a physical to the trainer. The trainer will give the athlete a release form clearing them for practice. Please do not allow any athlete to practice or tryout without this release form signed by the trainer.
Concussion Course for Students (NMAA)
All athletes must now complete the online concussion management course found under the "Forms and Resources" section of this page and on the NFHS website. After completing the course please return course conformation to the athletic director in the form of printed certificate.
Life of an Athlete (NMAA)
All athletes must take the NMAA “Life of an Athlete” course every year. Please have all of your athletes complete the course and print their certificate.
