Parent Involvement Organization (PIO)
Mission Statement
The Volcano Vista High School Parent Involvement Organization (PIO) works to support the Volcano Vista families, teachers, staff and students to bring a closer relationship between the home and the school environment; promoting a quality learning environment.
Activities
The PIO is made up of parent volunteers. This includes a four person Executive Board and parent volunteers who assist with activities, fundraisers and events sponsored by the Organization. So far this school year, the Parent Involvement Organization has participated in registration, a welcome back donuts and coffee for the entire VVHS staff, and participated in open house.
Upcoming events include:
- providing snacks and water available to students at the Homecoming Dance
- giving back to the Volcano Vista community by sponsoring a jacket and/or underwear drive in the fall
- partnering with senate for a canned food drive
We will provide Staff Appreciation Days for the teachers and staff and will continue to support the positive behavior of students on campus. In the spring we will also help celebrate all seniors who have a 4.0 grade point average or higher and provide support for the Junior/Senior Prom.
The PIO also participates with the Volcano Vista Instructional Committee to help make decisions regarding student schedules, parent/teacher conferences, the Advisory Program and other curriculum issues.
Funding
Primary funding for the PIO comes from parent membership donations and a Smith's Community Rewards Program. We welcome any parent involvement and encourage all Volcano Vista High School parents to join our Smith's fundraising collaboration as this is our primary source of funding.
- Go online to “Smith’s Community Rewards” and you will get full instructions on how to sign up.
- Select VVHS each calendar year. Volcano Vista High School's number is YT339.
- Smith's will donate money to Volcano Vista every time you shop there and it will cost you nothing.
The years before we have had a great response from families who have been willing to donate money and resources to the PIO for various activities. Donations are accepted in cash, check, through VENMO at VVHS-PIO and PayPal at vvhspio@gmail.com.
All fundraising and donations go directly back to the school in the events we plan.
There are approximately 2300 students at Volcano Vista High School. In a school this size it is easy for students and families to get lost in the crowd. Our goal in the Parent Involvement Organization is to bring the students, families and community together. We want to bring the band, athletic, cheer and student senate families together. We want to reach out to those students and families who might not normally get involved. We want to develop community partnerships that will benefit both Volcano Vista and the local retail sites. We all want the best for our children. Imagine what we could accomplish if we all came together to make high school a fantastic experience for our youth. To achieve this, we need your help. Our ability to provide and give back to the school is based on parent involvement.
