April 5 Return to In-Person Learning

Good Evening Hawk Families,

 

It is with great pleasure that I announce the return to in-person learning option for our students. Beginning April 5, 2021 students will have the opportunity to return to the campus for in-person instruction. Below is the most current information (please understand that the following  information is subject to change). 

  • In-person instruction will take place 5 days a week Monday through Friday from 7:25-2:25. 

    • Students will follow their daily schedule and normal bell schedule (not virtual schedule).  Bell schedules are posted on the website  here . Please follow the C-skinny schedule for Monday’s and A/B schedule for Tuesday - Friday. We will need to modify the C-skinny/Monday schedule to accommodate for Advisory (we will post it as soon as possible). However, please know that all classes will meet on Monday’s. 

  • Remote instruction will remain 3 hours daily synchronous (minimum) in addition to asynchronous learning. 

  • Students will need to bring their APS issued chromebook, fully charged, to school daily. 

  • Advisory will remain the same. Mondays from 10-10:50 for all learners (remote or in-person).

  • Lunch will be provided for students who are on campus. There will be no charge for the lunches. Students who are in remote learning can continue to participate in the APS grab and go lunches (distribution sites may change - please monitor the APS website for the latest locations). 

  • All students participating in onsite learning will need to adhere to all health and COVID safety guidelines (ie. wear a mask, social distancing, etc.). 

  • Transportation will be provided however per the district there is limited service and some routes may need to be combined (please complete the APS Return to School Survey on our website - or use this link here  as this will assist APS in identifying transportation needs). 

  • Our building is open to students however per APS it is closed to parents, visitors and guests. So, please continue to call or email if you need assistance or have any questions. Until further notice you will not be permitted into the building. 

  • Students who will be parking on campus will need to purchase a parking permit via our Activity Director’s office. Please visit our website for more information. Mr. Woods will have a process on the website by the end of day Friday March 19th. 

  • Water fountains will be closed however we do have water filling stations so please send your student with a refillable water bottle. 

 

We are excited to have the opportunity to bring students back to campus. We also understand that the students returning to the school site is a family decision and at any time you may change your decision.  Approximately one year ago we, as a school community and nation, embarked on a journey that none of us could have predicted. I want to thank you for your continued support, cooperation and advocacy as this journey has presented us with many challenges and unknowns. The VVHS administration is continuing to plan for an upcoming graduation for our class of 2021 students, a freshman campus visit, summer school/credit recovery options and so much more.
